Changing a customer's endpoint license plan

You can change the license plan on your customer's endpoints, for example if you want to upgrade/downgrade their endpoints from one plan to another, such as from Plus to Premium.

The main difference between the plan types is the maximum bandwidth (and hence resolution) allowed for calls:

  • Basic: 768 kbps, Standard Definition or better
  • Plus: 1.5 Mbps, 720p HD or better
  • Premium: Maximum 4.0 Mbps, 1080p HD or better

Moving some endpoints to a new plan

If you only need to move some endpoints to a new plan, you do this simply by ordering a new license plan, with enough licenses as required, and then assigning the endpoints as necessary.

  1. Order a new license plan, be sure to order enough licenses to cover your endpoint needs. See Ordering a new license plan for more information.
  2. Move the endpoints to the new license plan. The easiest way to do this is to use the batch update tool in the portal as described below.

Moving all endpoints to a new plan

If you need to move all endpoints to a new plan, you do this by setting your existing endpoint license plan to not renew. Then you should order a new license plan and move your endpoints to the new license plan.

When ordering your new license plan, we recommend that you set the Start Date to the day after your old license plan will expire, so as to avoid an overlap on billing (and paying for two license plans at once).

  1. Stop your existing license plan. Go to the Partner Portal and set your existing license to not renew. See Managing license renewals for more information.
  2. Order a new license plan, ensuring you order enough licenses to cover your endpoint needs. See Ordering a new license plan for more information.
  3. Move the endpoints to the new license plan. The easy way to do this is to use the batch update tool in the portal as described below.

Batch update tool

The batch update tool lets you apply changes to multiple endpoints in one step.

  1. Under the Endpoint tab, select the icon to the left of the Add Endpoint button.
  2. Select the action you want to take:

    • Assign to the <plan>: to assign the selected endpoints to a new plan.
    • Batch reactivate: to reactivate the selected endpoints.
    • Batch delete: to remove the selected endpoints.

  3. Select the endpoints you want to perform the action upon.
  4. Select Assign/Submit.
